About the Daikin SkyAir™ FTA Air Handler
The Daikin SkyAir FTA-D (RZA-AAVJU outdoor, FTA-AAVJUD indoor) is a vertical air handler unit — meaning the indoor unit stands upright (like a traditional air handler) and connects to supply and return ductwork for air distribution throughout a building or large space. The 'D' suffix indicates it includes a factory-installed disconnect switch.
Unlike the concealed ducted FBA which lies horizontally in the ceiling, the FTA air handler is a standalone vertical cabinet that can be installed in a mechanical room, closet, or utility area. From there, it connects to conventional ductwork to serve one or more zones throughout the space.
The FTA is designed for the largest applications — restaurants, retail stores, offices, large homes with mechanical rooms, and multi-room commercial suites. At 48,000 BTU, the largest FTA configuration can condition spaces of 2,000 square feet or more when properly sized.
The RZA-AAVJU outdoor unit is a commercial-class heat pump unit that powers all SkyAir configurations. Built to commercial standards with robust construction, it is designed for long service life in demanding outdoor environments including the extreme Phoenix summer heat.
